Navratri is one of the most important festivals of Hindus as they like to celebrate it with high spirits. It is called as a central festival to which millions of Hindus are deeply connected. The festival of Navratri exists for nine days, which are dedicated to Shakti, the Goddess in her various incarnations such as Lakshmi, Durga, and Saravati and so on. This is the time for sacred austerities, selfless acts, intimate prayers and sacred gatherings.
On this auspicious day, devotees keep fast in Navratri. The individuals, who keep fast during this festival get up early in the morning, take bath and then offer prayers to the Goddess. Also, they follow a special diet for the festival of Navratri.
Most of the people during this festival abstain from the non-vegetarian food, alcohol and the dishes which are made of salt or any other kind of spice. One is allowed to have milk, coffee or tea during this festival. People even don’t take onion and garlic due to their foul smell.
In order to prepare delicious recipes during the Navratri Festival, specific vegetables and ingredients are used. The selection of vegetables varies from region to region. The spices which are allowed during this festival are red chilies, cumin seeds, turmeric and rock salt. There is a long list of delectable foods which one can prepare in navratri festival. 1.     Aloo Chaat
Aloo Chaat is one of the famous foods of Navratri festival. This food tastes good and only needs 10 minutes cooking time. For preparing alloo chaat, boil some potatoes and chop them into ¾ inch cubes. Now, fry the potatoesin oil until they become golden brown and well cooked. Then the potatoes can serve with the tamarind chutney and mint chutney.
2.     Arbi Yam Oondhiya recipe
Arbi yam oondhiya recipe is also a popular recipe for Navratri Festival. For preparing this dish, we need some arbi, sweet potatoes, potatoes, raw banana, pumpkin, kuttu or singhare ka atta and so on. This dish is also very delectable and people like its taste.
3.     Kacche Kele Ki sabji
Kachche Kele ki Sabji is one of the most popular dishes of Navratri Festival. People like to prepare it as it tastes very good. The raw banana, when prepared gives a good taste and because of this reason it is one of the most preferredfoods of Navratri Festival.
4.     Jeera Aloo
Jeera alloo is also one of the favourite dishes of Navratri festival. To make jeera aloo, some oil is heated and some chopped potatoes and chillies are added to it. After that these items are stirred and fried for about 5 minutes. Now, some lemon juice, salt and coriander are added to this and mixed properly. The crispy Jeera Alloo is now ready to serve.
5.     Kuttu ki Puri
Kuttu ki Puri is yet another famous dish of Navratri Festival. To prepare it, one is supposed to make small round balls of Kuttu dough and need to roll out every ball to make a poori. Now, some oil is heated in a pan and fried until the puri has a dark brown color. Now, to use this method repeatedly, one can make a number of poories. These poories go well with green chutney or aloo ki sabji.
